Data Science: One byte for man. One yottabyte for mankind.

This is my first blog post in a new weekly series on the state of the art of data science.

My co-founder Dr. Raj Bandyopadhyay, PhD and I have spent the last 15 months cultivating Data Science ATL, an events-driven meetup for and by data science professionals, enthusiasts, and students across Metro Atlanta. Each month (sometime more often) Data Science ATL hosts thought leaders exploring the boundaries of data science. Featured speakers include chief data scientists, Silicon Valley big data evangelists, and early-stage entrepreneurs funded by the most storied names in venture capital.

The primary goal of the meetup is to maximize opportunity for the membership whether that is providing new learning opportunities and resources, networking with industry leaders, or becoming gainfully employed in a job they love in the nascent field of data science. The best example of this is my co-founder Raj recently joining Pindrop Security as their Principle Data Scientist. I have no doubt that the data science team he will build at Pindrop will become a sustainable competitive advantage that will help the company become the leader in phone fraud detection and will be a key part of their success strategy.

We have several events planned between now and January but there is one in particular that I am very proud to announce!
